As an audience member, let me answer your question, Ian:

Yes, I do enjoy when you guys go a bit quieter in the important moments. A lot of commentaries just blather on, trying to be funny while a really good scene is going on. In fact, I wish you guys would go quieter more often, or at the least talk about what’s going on on-screen, rather than spending so much time talking about other things the actors have done. It’s nice to hear some things the actors have done, but when it takes over the entire commentary, it’s a bit much. We don’t need to hear every actor’s *entire* CV.

So, yeah…I like it.

Yes the episode, after a slow start, built up beautifully – but the ending was a little trite.

The episode was beautifully directed, but the story itself fell quite flat (and gets worse the more I think about it).

I’ve written a bit about what I see as the central problem with the Ponds this season, and would love your thoughts on the matter.

Hi Derek, we do use Skype to record the commentaries – then after editing they are uploaded to Talkshoe. We each make local recordings but there can still be short sections where even the Skype audio drops in quality. Thanks foe he comment and for listenning to the podcast.

You guys should consider switching from Talkshoe to Skype. The audio quality you can get is much better.

General Shan was played by Sarah Lam and was listed as “Opera Singer” in the credits. Since she doesn’t sing, even in her guise as the circus ringmaster, I have no idea why she’s listed this way.

I’m with Ian. I am the mother of an eight-year-old, and the CyberKing was a hell of a lot of fun for both of us.

I mean, c’mon. It’s Christmas. Think like a kid! GIANT CYBERMAN STOMPING ON LONDON! WEE! I think it’s just a bit too stuffy to turn your nose up on the episode on such superficial things. Enjoy the superficial. Have fun, for goodness sakes! To quote the guy who thinks he’s Santa in “Death in Blackpool”, “It’s CHRIIIIIISTMAAAAAAS!”

I just listened to your “The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who”. I love ever second of the interview.

I’m looking forward to your Doctor Who, this is your life show.

I’m not sure if this person fits your interview show; but, here’s a show idea: James Burke…that bad-ass science historian. I saw his The Day the World Changed series when I was a child. His series blew my mind open.

I love this guy! I wish he was my teacher (in every subject) as I grew up! Burke, in my opinion, may be greater than Carl Sagan and Cosmos because Burke laid the foundation for me knowing what I didn’t know, he “connected everything”.

The world got smaller when my mind grew bigger. Burke showed me how little I knew about the world as that child. That was the day my world changed.
